I am definitely not by any means a gardening expert. Actually, I am horrible at it. I have found this information to be helpful.

Nature Spirits

Nature spirits can be called on to help sick or weak plants. They can also be asked to watch over your garden and help it grow in general. You can do this by standing in the garden and mentally asking their aid. Dusk is a good time to do this. Always be respectful in your requests. Ask for their help, don't command them. They do not have to help you. Leave them an offering at least once a month as a thank you for their help. They especially like ginger, thyme, and fern. You can sprinkle it around the edges of your garden or you can leave it on an offering somewhere near the entrance.

Lunar Gardening

The moon can affect plants the same way it affects people. You will have much better results in your gardening if you plant and prune in the appropriate lunar sign and phase. You can find out what sign the moon is in by checking most any magickal almanac.

By Lunar Phase:

Plant: In the waxing moon, just after the new moon until the full moon
Prune to encourage growth: In the waxing moon,Just after the new moon until the full moon
Weed and Harvest: In the waning moon, Just after the full moon until the new moon.

By Moon sign:
Plant and prune to encourage growth when the moon is in these signs: Cancer,Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus, Capricorn, and Libra
Weed and Harvest when the moon is in these signs:
Leo, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Aries

Pest Control Without Poison

Pesticides can sometimes have an effect on good bugs as well as bad. I also do not think it is a particularly good idea to use herbs that have been soaked in chemicals in ritual if you can help it. This is an easy way to help keep bugs from your herb garden:

Plant Garlic around the edges of your garden. To do this: Get several garlic bulbs. separate them into cloves. Be careful not to break the peeling on the outside of the cloves. Plant cloves 3 inches deep, 6 inches apart in moderately drained soil. They grow best in full sun. Water regularly, but do NOT over water. This will help keep bugs away from your garden. Naturally, it is not as effective as commercial pesticides, but it is certainly less harmful to the environment, and the good bugs. In addition, some species of butterflies feed off the flowers. For this reason, it is best to keep bird feeders well away as many birds feed on butterflies.
